Agreed. I wouldn't be opposed to NJ giving him a multi-year deal if the price isn't ridiculous.

Good job TC!

I am with you, Id take a stab at Semin even if for only 2 years. If the Devils want to try another run it has to be in the next two years with marty and Elias set to be UFA after next season.

Uncle Lou needs to strike!!!

Can you really compare to completely different style of players like Parise and Semin? Presence on the ice and overall work ethic should be the key factors over straight up stats. IMO

he'd be alright at filling the void left by parise, strictly in the points department.

the problem is that in EVERYTHING ELSE (defense, physicality, leadership, etc, etc) parise is the far superior player.

I would think that a better target for the devils would be someone like doan.

I said I'd take Parise over Semin any day, was just showing that Semin is more productive in terms of offensive numbers. That's why the title says comparing production.

Doan wouldn't come to NJ, and as the title says, I'm strictly comparing production.

Right on! I wouldn't have minded Semin in a Wild sweater if they hadn't been able to land Parise.

I know Semin has been rumored to take plays/games off, but I'd love to see what kind of season he could have if he were giving his all every game. He's also flourished in quite a differnt style of offense than that of Parise. Either way, I think NJ would be hard pressed to find a better replacement for Parise than Semin. Maybe Doan.

I don't think Doan would come to NJ, and congrats on landing Parise and Suter!

Do you think Kovy can be of any use here (whether getting Lou to push for him or tell Lou to stay away)? Have they ever played together or even on the same line during WC or Olympics? Any connections between the two?

I think that Devils system can change a player like Semin. The coaching stuff especially JL did a great job coaching Kovi.Semin would not be hard to change. I bet if he end up on our team he will be killing penalties in no time and soon learns how to back check and be defensively responsible.Regarding his laziness and taking stupid penalties, well we just have to see why he did that.
Yes,Parise was good at his game, not a game changer but good at what he did.I think Devils will overcome his absence and if LL will add Semin we will match Zach's point production.Speaking of on ice leadership, you can say anything you want about Kovi.I think he will lead by example and teammates know that Kovi can easily change the game by himself with one shot and Kovi always wants to win. He will step up for a teammate and even drop the gloves when need too.How is it not a leadership.

i don't think one is any more realistic than the other. doan said he wants to go to a contender (pretty sure the cup finalists qualify), i'm sure he has a pretty solid relationship with brodeur, and there are some quality forwards to paly with. i'm not saying he will sign with the devils, but i think the chances are about the same as semin signing there, and he'd be a much better fit. if i'm gonna throw money at someone, it's doan, not semin.
